On September 1, 2022, Leonard W. Poger (Lenny) passed away at the age of 72.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Lenny was born on September 24, 1949, in New York, New York, to Mary and William Poger.  He was raised in New York City where he attended and graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School in 1967.
Lenny pursued a career in finance and became a professional Over-The Counter Trader for PaineWebber in Manhattan. In 1990, Lenny became a member of the PaineWebber O.T.C. Gold Circle.

Lenny developed a passion for horses from a young age.  His summers spent at his father's dude ranch helping with the horses.  As a young adult, he was a trainer of Standard Breed horses at Yonkers Raceway, in Yonkers New York.

In 1991, Lenny moved to Hobe Sound, FL, and worked in Boca Raton for Donald & Company, as a securities trader.  It was in Boca Raton where Lenny met Erin in 1997.  They married in 1998 and became business partners in real estate. Together with St. Clair Builders, he built 15 homes for resale, and invested in many vacant land parcels, and a few rental properties.

In 2004 Lenny went back to the horses, buying one horse to race at Pompano Park Raceway, Isle of Capri. Over the years, and many horses later, he retired from owning and training Pacers and Trotters in 2015 with over 30 wins.

Lenny is survived by his wife of 24 years, Erin, his two children Billy and Michael, and five grandchildren: Addilyn, Ellie Rae, Michael, Ryan and Brooklyn.  He is also survived by one Brother, Tony, and Sister, Susan, and Stepsister, Debbie, Aunt Clio, Uncle Mike, and Three Cousins: Steven, Anthony and Gregory.

Lenny also had a special relationship with Erin's large family who loved him dearly.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Poger Residence in Palm City, at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, October 1, 2022.
