Obituary

Leonard J Schnell , of Port St Lucie, FL passed away on March 2, 2016, ending his struggle with Alzheimers.

He was born in Superior, WI on October 18, 1925. He graduated from Central High School in Superior. He sailed on the Lakes for a year and then joined the Navy in 1943, and honorably discharged in 1946. He went to work for the Telephone Company where he remained his adult working life. He married Betty Newman of Antigo , WI in January of 1967. The wedding was most memorable as a huge blizzard hit Hurley , WI that day. All guests stayed over as there was no travel. Leonard loved telling that story. Their married life was spent in Florida, first in Stuart then moving to Port St Lucie in 1973. They loved traveling together, especially cruises. The love of his life passed in 2007. Also preceding him in death his parents, Oscar and Stella Schnell, his three brothers, William, Raymond, and Philip and nephew James Schnell .

Survived by niece Janet Schnell Nindorf (Don) Superior, WI, nephews Jerry Schnell (Mary) Superior, WI and John Schnell (Sara) of Appleton, WI. Sister-in-law Elayne Schnell of Superior. Many great nieces and nephews.

Leonard was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Port St Lucie. Ushered at Mass and enjoyed pancake breakfasts until no longer able. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle person. Loved to ski in his younger days and frequently took the nephews and niece to ski hills to show off his skills and teach.

Our family would like thank Al and Dawn for their care over the last few years. He loved them both. Heartwood Homes in Appleton, along with Hospice Care are also thanked by the family.

Uncle Len , we will miss you. Thanks for the memories. Jerry, Janet and John
