IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lois Carol
O'Connor
September 6, 1939 – February 9, 2026
Lois Carol O'Connor, beloved wife, sister, mother, fur mom, and friend, passed away on
February 9, 2026. She will be remembered with love by her devoted husband of sixty-seven years, Jim;
her daughter, Ren Maffeo; her three grandchildren, Jennifer, Kaitlin, and Samantha; her sister, Joan
Wells; her cherished dog Zelda; and her many friends in North Carolina and Florida. Lois was
predeceased by her beloved son, Kevin, in 1993.
Lois had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome and sharing her love of stories and conversation with others. Lois's passion and energy touched every aspect of her life: a rewarding career, travel, theater, good wine, gardening, dancing, parties, and a love of shopping and sharing meals with family and friends. She gave generously to her community and embraced everyone she met with kindness and joy.
Her granddaughter Jennifer fondly recalls dressing up in Lois's elegant clothes, shoes, and jewelry, parading down the "red carpet" to the delighted applause of her grandparents. While her son-in law, Mitch loved seeing Lois on stage and riding a tricycle in a witch's costume to benefit a charity, and her daughter, Ren recalls marathon mall shopping and river rafting with her mom as special times spent
together in her teen years.
Birthday shopping sprees, sharing books both at home and at the community library, and receiving a red lipstick kiss on the forehead were just a few of the treasured memories Lois created with her grandchildren.
A celebration of Lois's life will be held later this year. She leaves behind a legacy of love,
laughter, and generosity that will never be forgotten
