OBITUARY
Mrs. Lorene Page Grant was born February 11, 1936, to the late Andrew J. Page and Elzia D. Page in Elba, Alabama.
She transitioned from this life peacefully in her home on August 13, 2021. She attended The Mulberry Heights High School in Elba, Alabama and graduated in 1955 with high honors. She later attended Indian River Community College for a period.
She joined the Shady Grove A.M.E. Church at the age of eight years old and attend faithfully with her family until she moved to Florida.
She moved to Stuart, Florida in 1957 where she met and married her husband, Thomas Grant.
After moving to Stuart, she joined St. Paul A. M.E. Church where she remained a busy and faithful member until she became ill early this year. At St. Paul A.M. E. Church, she was a member of the Steward Board, Usher, Willing Worker, Chair of Building Committee and Financial Secretary.
She worked faithfully in the East Stuart Community for many years. She was one of the Founders of the Martin County Black Heritage Association, Inc., A member of The Martin County Food Service, The NAACP, Martin County Retired Educators Association, Women's Club of Stuart, She was on the Board of Directors of the Gertrude Walden Child Care Center, a member of Club 400, and worked with the Martin County Healthy Start Coalition.
She was employed by the Martin County School System for thirty-one years, where she served as the Food Service Manager until her retirement in 1993. Food service was her specialty, and she was a magnificent cook.
Lorene catered for weddings, parties, meetings, funerals, anniversaries, etc., and served many delicious meals for the Martin County Community.
She leaves to mourn her husband of 62 years, Thomas Grant, a Dear Sister, Betty Reffegee of Elba, Alabama, Sons, Robert E. Page, (Dianne) wife, Ramer Alabama, Randy Watson, (Evelyn) wife, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Thomas J. Grant. Her only Daughter, Sandy Jackson (Harold) husband of Port Salerno, Florida. 9 grands and 8 great grands, one Special daughter-in-law Linda Grant (predeceased) and one special brother-in-law, Jadie Reffegee (predeceased). A special Niece, Fritzi Bronson of Franklin, Tennessee. God Daughters, Angel (Kevin) Murry, Atlanta, Georgia, Denise Mitchell Davis, Stuart, Florida, Laketryn Mitchell, Stuart, Florida and Joanne Blount, of Port Salerno, Florida. And a host of family, sorrowing neighbors and friends.
