Yates, Luther M., 72 of Stuart, FL passed on August 4, 2023 with his family by his side.

Luther was born in Greenville, NC to Charles E. and Orphia (Beth) Yates on May 29, 1951.

He attended Martin County High School, graduating class of 1970.

Luther was an electrician/maintenance worker by trade. Luther began his career with Harman Electric and then started with the Martin County School Board in 1991. He retired in 2011 with 20 years of service to the school board. He began his tenure in maintenance at Pinewood Elementary and would retire as head of maintenance at Felix WIlliams Elementary.

After retiring from the school board, Luther went to work for Walmart, Lowes, and most recently he enjoyed working for the Martin County Parks & Recreation.

Luther enjoyed spending time with family & friends. He loved anything outdoors, playing pool, and bowling. He always looked forward to Sunday dinners with family.

Luther is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Sandra A. (Fesh), father Charles E., mother Orphia (Beth), brothers Charles M. (Buddy) & Anthony (Tony).

Luther is survived & remembered by his children Kimberly A. Yates (Michael R.) & William (Billy) Yates (Sarah Greenstein), siblings Betty J. Walton, Donna Newman (Richard), Dianna Knight, Amy Kirkland, Merribeth Manning (Jim) and many nieces & nephews.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at the Palm City Community Center (2701 SW Cornell Ave.)  August 25, 2023 at 11:30am following a prayer service at his final resting place at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
