Mack Day of Palm City, passed away June 16, 2011 at Water's Edge in Palm City.
Mack Day grew up in Westchester County New York and Miami Dade County Florida where his father was a practicing attorney. Before World War II he was an accomplished diver championships he dove in Buster Crabe Water Shows at the New York World's Fair, at the Miami Biltmore and Miami Doval Hotel After graduating from the New York Military Academy Mack Joined the Army during World War II. He served with the third infantry Regiment, the Old Guard, at Ft. Benning, Georgia and in the European Theatre with the rank of First Sergeant In 1950 he was called back during the Korean Conflict as a Commissioned Officer.
After release from the Army he sold Westinghouse Major Appliances in Westchester County New York before joining BBDO Advertising Agency (now Omnicom) as a Marketing Specialist. After BBDI he joined Wometco Enterprises, a Miami Company, as a part of their Management Team. While with Wometco he was President of Wometco International residing in Nassau Bahamas where he was also General Manager of the Pepsi Cola Bottling Operation and Nassau Vending Company from 1960 to 1970. While there he was active in the annual Bahamas Speed week with the Indy Class Drivers and sponsored many Golf Tournaments. From 1970 until his retirement in 1985 he was President of the Wometco Blue Circle Restaurant Chain and Wometco Food Services and Vending Companies in Tennessee.
During Mack's various career assignments since 1949 Mack was aided by his wife Jonnie. He is an avid golfer and won many club tournaments and along with is wife won the Westchester County New York Husband and Wife Low gross championship. In 1995 they bought a home in the Evergreen Cub in Palm City Florida and moved there in 2000 from Tennessee. Mack was a member of the Westchester Country Club in Rye New York, Bahamas Country Club and Coral Harbour Country Club in Nassau Bahamas, Deane Hill Country Club in Knoxville Tennessee old Hickory Country Club in Nashville Tennessee and currently the Evergreen Club in Palm City Florida.
