Madelaine Anne Laurelli, 83, of Palm City, Florida passed
away peacefully on March 12, 2023, at home with her children by her side. Madelaine
was born on January 13, 1940, to Rose (Brady) and Patrick Joseph Gilmurray in
Glasgow, Scotland. She attended Norte Dame High School, in Glasgow, Scotland.
At age 23,
Madelaine immigrated to the United States and lived in Jackson Heights, Queens,
NY where she worked as a secretary in Manhattan. In 1970, she proudly became an
American citizen. She had three children Antony, Linda, and Michael, and
dedicated her life to raising her children. She was happily married for 24 years
to the love of her life, her late husband Matthew Laurelli. She cherished
spending time with her granddaughters who were most dear to her.
Madelaine was predeceased by her parents, her husband
Matthew, her brothers Ronnie Gilmurray and Brian Gilmurray, and her sisters
Barbara Church and Alison Gilmurray.
She is survived by her son Antony James Sommer of Stuart
Florida, her daughter Linda Anne Nicholson (Jim) of Avon, Connecticut, her son
Michael Francis Sommer of Smithtown, New York, and her granddaughters Kate
Alexandra Wise (Ryan), Lauren Anne Nicholson and Lily Shay Sommer.
She also leaves behind her sister and best friend Patricia
Brady of Manchester, England, and her many nieces and nephews in Scotland,
England, and Australia.
A Memorial Tribute Mass will be held at Holy Redeemer
Catholic Church, 1454 SW Mapp Road, Palm City, Florida on Thursday, April 20,
2023, at 10:00 am. After the service, she
will join her husband, Matthew at South Florida National Cemetery in a private
family ceremony.
