Manuel Melo, 92, of Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at his home.

Born in Portugal, he had been a resident of Port St. Lucie for 5 years coming from Mt. Sinai, NY. He came to the United States from Portugal.

Before retiring he was a mason and a member of the Masons Union Local 780 in New York City.

He attended St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Port St. Lucie.

Survivors include his son Antonio Melo and his wife Maria Natal of Marco Island, FL; his daughter Maria Julia Melo Santos and her husband Carlos of Port St. Lucie; his brothers, Albano Melo and his wife Maeia Natalia of Miller Place, NY and Americo Melo and his wife Maria Isabel of Mt. Sinai, NY; four grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Maria Julia Melo in 2010 and his sister, Maria da Conceio Nunes.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City, FL with a Vigil prayer service during the evening visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Port St. Lucie. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City.
