Obituary of Marian Garland

Marian Garland, 89, of Palm City, Florida, died October 29, 2010 at Palm City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in the St. Paul, Minnesota, she had been a resident of Palm City for the 15 years coming from Miami.

She received her bachelor degree in English from Florida State University.

Before retiring she was a Realtor with Prudential Realty in Miami for over 15 years and also was a script writer of the TV show "Sea Hunt". During World War II, she taught at the College of Charleston and then later at Riviera Day School in Miami.

She was a member of the Coral Reef Yacht Club, the Country Club of Coral Gables where she was past-president of the Women's Board, the Royal Palm Tennis Club in Miami and Monarch Country Club in Palm City. She was an avid and accomplished tennis player.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years James Edward Garland Sr. in 2007.

Survivors include sons, James E. Garland Jr. and his wife June of Jupiter and G. Jeffrey Garland of Sanford, Florida; grandchildren, Brooke Bryan and her husband Daryl and Ted Garland all of Jacksonville, FL and great grandson, Alexander Bryan.
