Martha June Joseph Dinnen, (Mother of Karen (Bob) Thomas of Sulligent, AL) age 94, of South Florida, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Generations of Vernon in Vernon, AL. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at Otts Funeral Home, Sulligent, AL. Funeral services and burial will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City, FL.
Martha June Joseph Dinnen was born on June 5, 1924, in Urbana, Ohio to the late William Joseph and the late Pauline Gulick. After graduating high school in Springfield, Ohio, she married Floyd Vernon Dinnen on December 24, 1943. They were married for 50 years. She lived for several years in Ohio before moving to South Florida in the Fort-Lauderdale are where she lived for several decades. Her husband was transferred by the Bureau of Indian Affairs to the Choctaw Agency in Philadelphia, Mississippi in the early 1970's. Upon her husband's retirement they returned to South Florida. Throughout her life she worked in a variety of jobs including postmistress in a small Ohio town, a department store sales clerk, office worker, cashier, seamstress, and plant nursery worker. However, her role as a housewife and making her home a beautiful, welcoming and cozy environment was her favorite. In the spring of 2013, she moved from Fort Pierce, Florida to live with her children. She split time between her son in Georgia and her daughter in Alabama. Martha was an artist, avid reader, flower gardener, and card player extraordinaire. She was a member of the Crossing Community Church in Fort Pierce, Florida, where she was a member of the "Sunshine Ladies" and "The Grandma's" Bible Study Group. She was loved by her family and all who knew this gracious lady.
Survivors include, her son: Larry (Bea) Dinnen, Loganville, GA, her daughter: Karen (Bob) Thomas, Sulligent, AL, her brother: Ronald Joseph, Stevensville, Maryland, seven Grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, Several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded In death by: her husband: Floyd Vernon Dinnen, her daughter: Victoria Lowrance, her brother: William Joseph, Jr. and her parents: William and Pauline Joseph
