Martin William McGarry Sr.

April 11, 1946 – April 10, 2023



Martin McGarry Sr., "Marty Senior," age 76, of Stuart, Florida, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023.

He was a fiercely loyal family man loved by so many. He was a solid source of love and strength for his wife Kay (nee Korneta); cherished son of Daniel and Anne (Walsh) McGarry; loving father to Martin (Jamie) McGarry Jr.; step father to Lisa (Brandon) Carrow and John (Crystal) Giaimo; proud and adoring grandpa of Mackenzie and Martin III (who carries his name) and "Pops" to Joe Cotton; dear brother of Patricia (James) Evanko, the late Edward, the late Jack (MaryEllen) McGarry, the late Daniel (Marilyn) McGarry, Mary (the late Frank) Cone, the late Nancy (Wayne) Kegel and the late baby Nora McGarry. He is survived by the mother of his son Diane (Jim) Withers. He was also loved by many nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and dear friends he left behind.

Marty was born in the south suburbs of Chicago and moved to Florida with his family where he spent most of his youth. He attended college and went on to join the U.S. Navy where he traveled through Europe. He then became a salvage diver in Lake Michigan for many years. He avidly loved the water and was a lifetime boater where he met many of his closest friends.

Throughout his life, he was a true entrepreneur and businessman who was a journeyman plumber, owned a bar along with residential and commercial buildings.

Whether it was skydiving, taking boat trips to the Bahamas or celebrating with his friends, he very much lived and enjoyed life to its fullest and left all who knew him with so many memories and laughs to carry on without him.
