Obituary

Mary M. Pierson, of Palm City, passed away on July 31st 2025, from complications resulting from her long battle to recover from a broken hip suffered this past January.

She was born to the late Bridget and Thomas Murray on September 21st, 1930 in Longford, Ireland.  She emigrated to the US in 1951, making her home in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York.

Mary worked as an Administrative Assistant for the prestigious Fahnestock & Co., a Wall Street brokerage firm.  It was during this time she met her future husband, Ernie Pierson, who had just become a New York City Police Officer.  They were married in 1955, moving first to Valley Stream, New York, and then Dix Hills, New York, where they raised their two children, Kevin and Kim.

In 1989, they retired to Palm City, and their 'forever' home in the Meadows at Martin Downs, where they enjoyed entertaining their friends, old and new, as well as their large extended family. Mary greatly enjoyed cooking, baking and - yes - even cleaning.  She became a familiar figure to the residents of Brighton Way, whether working in her garden or walking her beloved Yorkies Shannon, Casey and Meghan, and most recently Sasha.

Even into her 90's, Mary continued maintaining her home almost completely on her own, while spending many hours each week on the telephone, keeping up with family, friends and neighbors both near and far, from Palm City to New York and even England.  She enjoyed driving, whether her almost daily trips to Publix, or to her favorite restaurant, Manero's.  After her hip injury, when she had to stop driving, she would often say that not being able to come and go as she pleased was what she missed the most.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Ernie and her son Kevin.  She is survived by her daughter Kim LaBoyne of Palm City, and her two grandchildren, Jonathan LaBoyne of Oak Hills, California, and Lindsey LaBoyne of Golden, Colorado.

A graveside Memorial service will be held on Friday August 29th at 11:00AM at the Forest Hills Memorial Park, 2001 SW Murphy Road in Palm City.
