Obituary of Mary Lou Fox
Mary Louise Yoder Fox, 101, of Stuart, FL, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2014 In her home.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, she grew up in Colorado Springs, Colo. She graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa and taught English in Greeley, Colo. She married Mortimer J. Fox, Jr. in 1945 and they lived in Washington,DC until after WW11. She lived in Montclair, NJ for 55 years, and was a permanent resident of Stuart for 8 years; she had been a winter resident of Florida since 1982.
MaryLou was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother. In New Jersey, she was a volunteer and supporter of Mountainside Hospital and the Montclair Art Museum and was a member of the Garden Club of Montclair and the Montclair Golf Club for more than 40 years. She served on the Board of the Job Haines Senior Care facility in Bloomfield and the Northeast Elementary School PTA. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Upper Montclair. She particularly enjoyed entertaining and extensive travel with her husband who was VP Finance for the Schering-Plough pharmecutical company.
Survivors include her sons: James Fox and his wife Barbara of Stowe, Vermont; Philip Fox and his wife Laura of Hysham, Montana; Dr. Robert Fox and his wife Amy of Rockville, Maryland; and son-in-law Charles McWilliams of Pinehurst, North Carolina; nine grandchildren: Leann, Lorena, Larry; Brant, MaryDevon; Jesse, Mariel; David and Tim; and one great grandchild: Joshua. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mortimer J. Fox, Jr.; her daughter Barbara Fox McWilliams and sisters, Libby Coignard and Frances Barnett. She is also survived by Faye Clayborne her devoted caregiver and companion.
MaryLou was a gracious and elegant lady.
