IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maureen O.
Zappala
June 16, 1935 – February 2, 2024
Maureen O. Zappala
June 16, 1935-February 2024
Maureen died peacefully on February 2, 2024 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her mother Georgiane Ficht and father Jimmy Osolo, her husband Frank J. Zappala, Jr. and her son Ralph Roberto. Maureen is survived by her daughter-in-law Terri Roberto, stepsons Frank J. Zappala, III (Erica) and Mark (Debra), six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Maureen was a fiercely determined woman who was very protective of her family. She was also very charitable as a fund raiser for several organizations. She served on the Board of Directors of Hibiscus Children's Center and organized spectacular galas and events for the Martin Memorial Health System (now Cleveland Clinic). She was also deeply involved with St Joseph Catholic Church and School and organized their annual Caritas Christi event to provide laptops for every student in the school.
She was born in Pittsburgh, PA and lived for a time in the Canary Islands. Along with her husband, Frank, they enjoyed a home in Malaga, Spain as well as several homes along the east coast of Florida. She and Frank loved to travel and immerse themselves in the culture and beauty of every town they visited. Their travels took them around the world, eventually setting foot on every continent. She brought her family along on many trips and exposed them to some of the most luxurious destinations to some of the most rustic places on earth. Maureen's spirit, inspiration and love of travel will be missed.
