Obituary of Melvin Shalett

Melvin E Shalett, 89, of Woodstock, MD, formerly of Vero Beach, FL, New Jersey and Pittsfield, MA, died Saturday, October 17 at home. Melvin was born in New London, Ct on March 9, 1920 and moved to Pittsfield, MA where he attended local schools and became owner of Shalett Dry Cleaners. He was a WWII veteran with an honorable discharge and a Purple Heart. He was also a long time member of the Shriners International and an avid Yankee fan.

Mr. Shalett was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris in 2002; Loving father of Linda Colantino and her husband Jack of Woodstock, MD and Lois Schneider and her husband Gerry of Sharon, MA and a beloved brother-in-law Stuart Ellins of Aventura, FL.; Cherished grandfather to Jeffry, Alan, Jonathan, Steven, Mark and Karen and eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City, FL on Thursday, October 22 at 1:15 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity of choice. Inquiries to Forest Hills Memorial Funeral Home.
