Michael J. Barna passed away at this home in Palm City, Florida on June 7, 2022.
He was born in Bound Brook, N.J. and formerly lived in Readington Township, N.J. before retiring here in Florida in 1994. He was a former member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Whitehouse Station, N.J. and currently Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Palm City, Florida.
He enlisted in the USMC in 1954, overseas in Japan, Okinawa , and Puerto Rico, before marrying in 1956. He established Barna Building Contractors in 1968 and the business is currently run by his son Mik and grandsons Tony and Mickey Barna . He was a past president of the West Chapter of Hunterdon County Builders Association, and a member of the Flemington Rotary Club. After coming to Florida Mike was a member of the St. Joseph's Parish Keepers, St. Vincent De Paul Conference, and Carpenter's Kitchen. He was an advocate for Jeb Bush's program "Take Stock in Children" in South Fork High School where he was a mentor. He was also a member of Stuart Coffee Club.
Mike leaves his partner and wife, Lee, after 66 years of marriage, and children, Patti George and husband Jack, Cathy Bell and husband Walter, Mik and wife Susie, Barb Lachenmayr and husband Matt, and Jackie Bregenzer and husband Mike, and son-in-law Deacon Matt Bartlett. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren of which he was very proud. He is predeceased by his brother Fr. William Barna , and sisters Kitty Schaefer, Margaret Devoti , and Sr. Irene Barna , SND .

Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Salerno Rd., Stuart, Florida on August 13 at 11:00 am.
