Michael John Martin, 86, of Palm City, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday March 20th 2021.
Born May 20, 1934 in Scranton, PA, son of the late Michael John Martin Sr. and Anna (Duricko) Martin, former proprietors of Martin's Café of Throop, Pa. Surviving are his beloved Wife of 62 years, Dolores (Yorkanis) Martin, daughter Kathleen Martin; 2 sons and 2 daughters-in law, Michael and Patti Martin, Robert and Julie Martin; grandchildren, Michael, Christina ( Garrett), Laura, Bobby, Daniel and Kaleigh; 2 great-grandchildren; Oliver and Emma; a sister, Joan (Walt) Stevens; and many loving nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.After graduating Scranton Central High School and attending Keystone Jr. College, he was awarded an Academic Scholarship from General Motors Institute/Kettering University, Flint, Michigan. He earned a BS degree in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering and was promoted to Manager of Body Construction, Director of Material, Director of Quality and Executive management positions at GM Linden, NJ, Wilmington, Delaware and Orion, Michigan. He also received a US patent 3,478,405 for an Automatic Installation Tool. After early retirement from GM in 1989 and re-locating to Florida he formed Envirotronics Inc., specializing in Industrial/Commercial Water Treatment System utilizing High Energy Magnetics and Ionization. Major installations included Walt Disney World Attractions, many corporations and city cooling towers. Using his extensive GM training, he formed MJM Consulting. As Chief Operating Officer for ARO Cross Lander of America he traveled to Romania and initiated improvements in management, production and quality of the ARO Automobile Manufacturing Facilities.
Mike was an avid sports participant, especially tennis and golf. Mike was also a private pilot that loved flying his Cessna Airplane.
Family and Friends will be received on April 17 2021 at 8:45 am at Forest Hills Funeral Home, 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, FL 34990. A memorial mass will follow at 10:00 am at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1454 SW Mapp Road, Palm City, FL 34990. Interment will follow to Forest Hills Mausoleum. A luncheon in Mike's honor will follow at Monarch Country Club, 1801 SW Monarch Club Drive, Palm City, FL 34990.
