Michael David McCarron (84 yrs) passed away after a brief illness on February 25th, 2024.
He is survived by his wife Cecelia (Ce) and their 3 daughters Deborah McCarron, Stacy (Tim) Grose, and Colleen (Dan) Anselmo as well as his 8 grandchildren Samuel, Sarah, Rachel, Jonathan, Uriah, Trevor, and Sydney. His brother Dennis (Annette) McCarron and children Jennifer (Jeff) Allen, Stephanie (Chad) Beraux, Michael (Gillian) McCarron, and his sister Patricia McCarron and son Kenny, as well as his sister Mary's children Mike, Rick, and Katie Kay, and well as many other family members around the country. He is predeceased by his parents David and Annabelle McCarron, his sister Mary Kay, and his grandson Devin McCarron Grose.
Mike was born in Michigan on Feb 18, 1940. He grew-up in Grosse Pointe Farms and lived there through his early adult life. At 19, Mike moved to California to start his life and career at Sears Roebuck and Company. Here he met and married his wife Cecelia and they started their family. At 23, Mike was drafted into the Army and was briefly stationed in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, Fort Carson, Colorado, and Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and then served in the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, he and Ce resided in California and continued to grow and raise their family. In 1974, Sears transferred Mike to work at their corporate headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. He resided in Crystal Lake, Illinois to raise his family. He climbed the corporate ladder and worked numerous positions at Sears. In 1992 the division Mike worked for was part of a joint venture and became Advantis. In 1994, Advantis was then acquired by International Business Machines (IBM) in Arlington Heights, Illinois. In 2003, IBM transferred Mike and his wife to Raleigh, North Carolina where he continued his 50+ year career here until he retired in August, 2005.
He was a very smart, self-educated man who loved to read and research everything. He loved to help people. He was a very handy man who would give the shirt off of his back to help people in need, whether it was fixing someone's lawn mower, or using his tractor and snowplow to get someone shoveled out of their driveway. There wasn't really anything he couldn't fix. If he didn't know something, he would research, read, and learn until he could fix it. He and his family spent many fun memorable winters and summers at their cabin in Grayling Michigan. He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating/water skiing with family and friends. One of his favorite places was Traverse City, Michigan, famous for their Cherry Festival and fudge! Upon retirement, Mike and Ce spent time loving life and spending time with their adult children and grandchildren. He loved to travel near and far, showing his wife many beautiful places in this world. He was an avid gardener and loved to grow all different types of fruits and vegetables, especially tomatoes! He was always trying to grow that perfect, juicy tomato for sandwiches or his wife's yummy tomato pies! He and Ce enjoyed golf and spending time as snowbirds traveling between Raleigh and their condo in Stuart Florida for the last several years. Mike's request was to be cremated. His family is planning a memorial service at a future date this year. Condolences can be sent to 1983 SW Palm City Road Apt 43E, Stuart, Florida 34994
