IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Richard
Reilly
November 13, 1944 – March 13, 2025
With tremendous love, we celebrate the life of Michael Richard Reilly. Michael passed away peacefully in Stuart, Florida on March 13th, 2025, at the age of 80, with his family by his side.
Michael was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, and raised in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He attended St. Joseph's High School in Pittsfield, where he played varsity baseball and football. He continued his love of baseball at North Adams State College, where he was co-captain of the team and earned a BA degree in education. It is also where he met the love of his life, Shirley Ann Paradise, marrying in 1968. Michael and Shirley celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in November 2024.
Michael and Shirley raised their two children, Katie and Michael, in Bennington and Newfane, Vermont, where Michael began his career as a teacher and principal. The family moved to Mansfield, Connecticut in 1984 when Michael accepted a position as assistant superintendent of schools in Hebron, Connecticut. He continued his higher education at the University of Connecticut, where he earned a master's degree and sixth-year degree in education. Michael and his family lived in Mansfield until his retirement. Mike and Shirley relocated to Stuart, Florida full-time in 2020, where they joined the Conquistador community and developed lifelong friends.
While in Connecticut, Michael devoted his free time to coaching youth soccer and basketball, was an active member of his church community and a Meals on Wheels volunteer, and was an avid biker competing in century bike rides all over New England. Michael loved watching his children play sports, and famously attended every soccer game, track meet, and basketball game they played. As a coach, Michael is remembered for his positivity, sense of humor, and encouragement of all players—as well as his lucky green corduroy pants.
In Florida, Michael continued his love/hate relationship with golf, enjoyed kayaking, and introduced pickleball to the community of Conquistador. He was most proud of winning three gold medals in biking at the annual Conquistador Olympics.
Michael was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants, and UConn Huskies. Spending time in Colorado was something he always looked forward to. There, in his beloved Rockies, he would spend time hiking, biking, golfing, and frolicking with his grand-pups Huck and Olive.
Michael is survived by his wife, Shirley Reilly, his children Katie Reilly (Shane Harvey) and Michael Reilly, his grandchildren Blake Harvey (Victor Fensterseifer), Emma Harvey, and Isabella Reilly, his siblings and best friends David (Cheryl) Reilly, Mary Reilly, and Karen Reilly, as well as many treasured cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Charles Reilly, and his brother John Reilly.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local Humane Society or a nonprofit that supports children who are facing challenges. The family will host a celebration of Michael's life in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in June. Anyone wishing to send the family a message or share a story is asked to visit Michael's memorial page at www.foresthillspalmcityflorida.com.
