Obituary

Bennie "Micheal" Shipp joined his family in heaven on January 13, 2022. Born on December 15, 1952,  in Lafayette, Georgia, he was always a proud Georgian. He was the first born of Bennie and Vivian Shipp, having a brother Rick Shipp and sister Karon Gaumont. He was married to Jackie Crane, and they had two daughters Nicol and Suzanne.

Mike grew up in Georgia until the age of 14 when the family moved to Florida. He completed high school and attended Warner Southern college until he was drafted into the Army and served in Korea. When he returned, he pursued a fishing career that opened opportunities to fish in Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, and the coastline of Florida. He always enjoyed being out on the water and varies forms of fishing. In his thirties he pursed a career as an insurance salesman until his late 50's. He transitioned into Mortgage sales until the market failed in 2008. He continued to work varies career roles until he partially retired in his mid-60's.

Mike was a devoted son to his living parents. He was living with them and helping care for them upon his death. He honored his mother and father in everyway as he was taught as a young boy in Sunday school. He was raised in the Church of God and was a member of Palm Beach Gardens Christ Fellowship throughout the majority of his adult life. In most recent years he was a member of Life Quest church in Palm City, Fl. Mike has been a believer in Christ Jesus since he was saved as a child. His love and passion for Christ has touched many in his lifetime. His roles within the churches were a singer, deacon, elder and most recently a celebrate recovery coach and first impression team director at Life Quest church. His love for people stemmed from his love of God. He was a role model and mentor to many on how a Christian should live their life.

As a father he was just as devoted. His living daughter, Suzanne, was his number one priority. Throughout his life his highest accomplishment was being a father. It meant so much to him and everyone who knew him, knew how proud he was of both his daughters. He took pleasure in teaching and instructing them from how to throw a fishing pole to what kind of man they need to marry. He enjoyed all sports, especially the Miami Heat. Suzanne and he attended many sporting events together, most recently game 4 in the Braves/Astros world series. An event they both cherished.

He had a passion for adventure. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, kayaking, swimming, and biking. He loved fishing at sunrise on the beach, learned to master bass fishing in the pond he lived near, and soaking up the sun at the pool. His ability to be in the moment and enjoy nature is a gift that he has taught so many to enjoy as well. He also enjoyed dancing and turning the music up on a Saturday night. Time spent with Mike left smiles on peoples faces, even strangers, although no one was a stranger to him. He talked everyone young and old, he always wanted to leave people in a better mood.

Mike is survived by his parents Bennie and Vivian, daughter (Suzanne), brother (Rick), sister (Karon), ex-wife( Jackie) along with multiple nieces and nephews. A celebration of Life will be held at Christ Fellowship south campus at 6pm on January 25. 2022.
