Obituary of Mildred Lombaer

Mildred Mohun Lombaer, 92, of Palm City, FL, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at her home.

Born in Lansing, Michigan, she was the daughter of William Ward Mohun and Janet Jackson Mohun. She had been a resident of Sandhill Cove in Palm City for 10 years. Prior to that, she was a resident of Mariner Sands in Stuart for 26 years. She moved to Florida from Brussels, Belgium.

She was a graduate of Mary Baldwin College, Staunton, Virginia in 1943, where she received a Bachelor's degree.

During World War II she had been an Ensign in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946, where she met her husband, Forest R. Lombaer Sr.

She was a member and founder, with her husband and others of Mariner Sands Chapel, Stuart and currently attended the Palm City Presbyterian Church. She had been a volunteer at Martin Medical Center, Stuart, for 26 years. She was an avid golfer and bridge player and loved the ocean.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Burden of New York City; her son Forest R. Lombaer Jr. and his wife Nancy of Chicago, IL; her grandchildren, Meagan Lombaer of Chicago, Trevor Lombaer of Brooklyn, NY and Belle Burden Davis and her husband Henry and Carter Burden III and his wife Charmaine all of New York City and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Forest R. Lombaer in 2008 and her son-in-law, Carter Burden.

A service celebrating her life will be held at Mariner Sands Chapel at 3:30 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2015.
