Obituary of Mildred Morton
Mildred (Millie) Morton, 88, of Palm City, FL, died on October 24, 2013 at her home. She was born in Fall River, MA, daughter of Daniel and Mary Helene Cullen. She attended schools in Pittsfield, MA, graduating from St. Joseph's High School in 1942. She graduated from Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, TN in 1946, and began her teaching career in Knoxville, TN. She later moved to Miami, FL where she retired from teaching in 1973. In 1957 she married Arthur "Gus" Morton. Together they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2007.
At retirement she and Gus decided to spend their remaining years in Palm City. They also loved traveling and saw many parts of the world, making friends wherever they went.
In Miami she was a CCD teacher at Christ the King Catholic Church and served as president of the Women's Guild and vice-president of South Dade Deanery of Catholic Women. She was a Communicant of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and a member of the Women's Guild. She was an avid bridge player.
She is survived by sisters Lillian Cullen Bugarelli and Beverly Cullen Russo, nephew Chip Russo, and nieces Wendy Galano, Beth Cohan and Tracy Spear.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Tuesday October 29th at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Palm City. Interment will follow immediately in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 S.E. Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997.
