Obituary

Nancy Rusk Von Holle, 77, was welcomed into the joy of heaven on January 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on March 29, 1947, in St. Petersburg, Florida, Nancy was the eldest daughter of a naval officer and the granddaughter of an admiral. She spent her childhood on the East Coast and in Europe, attending high school in Newport, Rhode Island, before earning a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Maryland. Nancy was a woman of grace, strength, and unwavering faith. Always poised and elegant, she carried herself with dignity—her hair and nails perfectly done, her home beautifully decorated, and her presence radiant. But beyond her polished exterior was a heart full of warmth, generosity, and deep devotion to those she loved. She was deeply involved in the lives of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, forming lasting bonds that they will cherish forever.

Her love extended to her sisters and her husband Dave's sisters, with whom she shared an unbreakable closeness. A natural leader, Nancy made an impact wherever she went. An accomplished sailor, she was instrumental in establishing the J-24 fleet at the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club in New Jersey and played a key role in promoting competitive sailing. She also had a distinguished career at Johnson & Johnson, where she served in leadership roles for over four decades. At home, Nancy's talents were boundless. She was a gracious hostess, a gifted decorator, and a creative soul who found joy in sewing, arranging flowers, and preparing delicious, healthy meals—always eager to share a new recipe. At Christmas time, her homemade chocolate candy became a beloved tradition, bringing joy to family and friends. She had a deep appreciation for nature, tending to her flowers and garden and feeding the birds that gathered outside her window. Her faith was the foundation of her life.

A devoted member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Stuart, Florida, Nancy lived with kindness, purpose, and an unwavering trust in God's plan. Those who knew her take comfort in knowing she is now celebrating in His presence, exactly where she longed to be. She was deeply cherished by her beloved husband, Dave Von Holle; her sisters, Laurie Sewell and Judy Etheridge; her sisters-in-law, Judi Von Holle, Cathy Bachman (Douglas), and Debbie Thiel (Helmut); and her many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews, all of whom she adored.

Nancy's life will be honored with a memorial service at a later date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, celebrating her love of faith, family, and the beauty of the world around her. Her life was one of elegance, devotion, and grace—a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
