Naomi Dubreus Franklin was born on November 7, 1988, in Brooklyn, New York, to her loving parents, Dulas and Marie Dubreus. She was the sixth of nine siblings, a role that shaped her into someone who understood family deeply. Naomi knew how to love, support, and stand strong for those around her.
In 1989, Naomi’s journey brought her to Miami, Florida, where she would grow, learn, and begin leaving her mark on the lives of others. She graduated from Fort Pierce Central High School in 2007, a place that would later become a meaningful part of her life’s purpose.
In 2011, Naomi returned to Fort Pierce Central, not as a student but as a mentor and leader. Alongside Coach Sophia Witherspoon, she became an assistant coach for the Lady Cobras basketball team. For seven years, Naomi poured her heart into the program, living out their motto, “Champions for Life.” She helped shape not only athletes but young women of strength, discipline, and character. Her impact extended far beyond the basketball court.
Naomi’s passion for serving others continued in her professional life. In 2019, she joined the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office, where she earned her certification. In 2020, she continued her service with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. Her dedication to her community was evident in everything she did. Naomi also served faithfully as a substitute teacher with the St. Lucie County School Board since 2011, guiding and inspiring countless students over the years.
Naomi’s foundation was deeply rooted in her faith in God. In 2010, she became a member of Soaring Faith Ministries under the leadership of Bishop Larry Bender. Her relationship with God was a guiding force in her life, giving her strength, purpose, and grace.
In 2014, Naomi met the love of her life, Gervelle Franklin. Their love story blossomed over the years, and on August 30, 2024, they were united in marriage. Together they built a life rooted in love, partnership, and commitment.
Above all, Naomi was a devoted mother to her children. They were her heart, her motivation, and her greatest joy. She carried her roles as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend with unmatched love and pride. Naomi had a spirit that was warm, genuine, and unforgettable. She was the kind of person whose smile could light up a room and whose presence made you feel seen, valued, and loved.
Though her time with us feels far too short, the impact Naomi made will live on forever in her children, in her family, in her community, and in every life she touched.
Naomi Dubreus will forever be loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
Naomi was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Marie Dubreus. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her beloved husband, Gervelle Franklin; her treasured children, Malaiya, Malachi, Jayce, Journee, Noah, and Nyelle; her loving father, Dulas Dubreus; and her devoted siblings, Elisee, Norline, Priscille, Isaac, Phoebe, Josue, and Esdras. She is also lovingly remembered by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
