IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nation Ann
Young
November 30, 1941 – January 25, 2026
Nation Ann Young was born in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Esau and Charlotte Cooper. She passed away peacefully at her home on January 25, 2026. She was the beloved widow of Edward Young.
Nation was deeply loved by her siblings: Esau and his wife Diane; William and his wife Carol; Jimmy Norton, Sammy K and his wife Betsey; Richard Jr. and his wife Vashty; sisters Ruth and her husband Levi, Ivy and her husband Sam, Phoebe, and Patty.
She was deeply loved by her devoted children: Peggy Lee Cooper; Bertha Ann Williams and her husband Henry and their ten children; Sandra Cooper and her husband Maurice and their three children; her youngest daughter, Bernice Cooper Young, and her two sons; and her son William Cooper and his wife Rose and their four children.
Nation was the proud grandmother of 83 great-grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved, along with several great-great-grandchildren she adored. Seeing the children always brightened her day.
She was admired for her beauty and gracious hospitality. An independent and hardworking mother, Nation cherished the little things in life. She loved ballroom dancing and was exquisite at it. She was the heart of the holidays, delighting family and friends with her decorating, cooking, and baking—especially her famous Christmas pudding, lemon meringue pie, and homemade bread.
Nation loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Greece, Las Vegas, and Phoenix, among other destinations. Adventurous by nature, she eventually retired to Florida for its beaches and palm trees, though she always remained a Boston girl at heart.
