Norma Elizabeth Blackmon, fondly known as Elizabeth, was born on November 23, 1936, in Skipperville, Alabama, to Albert Ted and Estelle Strickland. Elizabeth attended John Gorrie Middle School and later graduated at Jacksonville School of Technology. In 1953, she met the love of her life, Clarence Whitfield Blackmon, and they married in 1954. Together, Elizabeth and Clarence built a life in Jacksonville, Saint Augustine, and Port Saint Lucie, Florida, and were blessed with two children: Gary Mitchel Blackmon (63) and Staci Karmel Blackmon-Vitale (56).
Elizabeth dedicated her entire career to Southern Bell, where she was known for her dedication and hard work. She was also a devout member of Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church in Fort Pierce, FL.
In her retirement, Elizabeth discovered a passion for miniature schnauzers, cherishing her beloved pets, Shadow and Oliver. She is survived by her children, Gary and Staci, Gary s wife Cathleen, her grandchildren, Allison, Lillian, and Connor, and her great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Piper, Phillip Jr., and Colton. She is also survived by her brother, Albert Ted Jr.. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her brother Gerald, her half-siblings, John D Stinson and Wilma Griffin, and her husband Clarence.
Norma Elizabeth entered eternal rest on May 25, 2024, at the age of 87, with her son and daughter by her side. She will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her kind spirit, and her joy in life's simple pleasures.
A private funeral for family and close friends will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, and an extended memorial service will be held on June 15, 2024, at Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church in Fort Pierce, FL. Elizabeth will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
