Obituary of Norma Schlentner

NORMA C. SCHLENTNER, of Stuart, Florida died on March 21, 2008 at the Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, FL. Mrs. Schlentner was born on April 23, 1921 in Sewickley, PA to Thomas and Stella Irene (Rogers) Challis. Among the first women to enlist in the Navy during WW II, she served as Radioman First Class. She and her husband retired to Stuart in 1983 from Pittsburgh, PA becoming members of Peace Presbyterian Church and Miles Grant Country Club, which she served in various leadership roles. An excellent dancer and accomplished golfer, she was a particulary skilled seamstress who gave her talents charitably to the community.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 61 years, Raymond R. Schlentner of Stuart, FL, and two daughters, Susan Renehan of Alexandria, VA and Debra Haas of Fort Collins, CO. Also surviving are four grandchildren, a great grandson, a brother, Thomas Challis of Beaver, PA, and a sister, Diane North of Stuart, FL.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Peace Presbyterian Church, 4881 SE Cove Road, Stuart, FL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Community Care, 800 Northpoint Parkway, Suite 101-B, West Palm Beach, FL 33407. Please specify the N. Stuart Daycare Center. Arrangements are entrusted to Forest Hills Funeral Home, 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, FL. A guest registry may be signed at www.foresthillsfunerals.com.
