Obituary of Olaf Nilsen
Olaf Nilsen, 88, of Palm City and Plantation, passed away August 2, 2008 at Covenant Village Care Center. He was born September 13, 1919 in Norway. He moved to the United States in 1941 when he was working as an Oiler on an oil tanker for Norway. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He fought in the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign and Normandy and received the Victory medal, American Campaign Medal and a Purple Heart. In addition, he received two service medals from the King of Norway. He was a machinist for a Bullard Machine Company in Connecticut before retirement. He moved to Florida in 1988 from CT and lived in Palm City until just recently moving to Plantation.
He is survived by his sons, John Nilsen of Trinity, FL and Ralph Nilsen of Sunrise; six grandchildren; brothers, Arnold Ronneng, Rolf Nilsen, Nils Nilsen and Ingeman Nilsen, all in Norway.
He was preceded in death by his wife Viola Nilsen.
Visitation will be 10 11:00AM, August 11, 2008 at Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City Chapel.
A graveside service will follow at 11:00AM at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City.
