Obituary

Otto William Klinke passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025 shortly after celebrating his 97th birthday. He was born in May, 1928, to Hans Otto and Ethel (Simpson DeLange) Klinke of East Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from East Detroit High School in 1946, and then attended Business College, obtaining a book keeping certificate.

He married Phyllis Audrey Ralph in 1949, and they had three children:  Michael, Michelle (Hryniuk) and Robin (Spencer).

He spent many years as business manager for local Detroit businesses including Detroit Colortype and Brophy Engraving, from which he retired. In addition to his accounting duties he became very proficient at the photoengraving process: coding, calibrating, and programming large offset presses for many publications.

After a divorce, in 1974 he married Loretta "Lee" Small. They retired to Florida where they were very active in local clubs and sports. He volunteered for many years as the book keeper of their condo association. He was very active as a member of The Deborah Hospital Foundation, successfully acting as local chapter leader and fund-raiser.

He loved word and number puzzles and kept his mind agile with Sudoku, palindromes and anagrams.

He is preceded in death by his wife Lee, his parents, his half-siblings Jack DeLange and Lois (Galloway), his brother David John Klinke, and his grandson Steven Hryniuk.

He is survived by his children, his sister Margaret (Wilson), his grandchildren Brandi, BJ and Sarah, and many nieces and nephews.
He was laid to rest next to his late wife, Lee, at Forest Hills Cemetery in Palm City, Florida.
