Obituary

Patricia Louise Miller

January 25, 1939 – October 20, 2026

Patricia Louise Miller, lovingly known as Pat, passed away peacefully at her home in Hobe Sound, Florida, on October 21, 2026, at the age of 87, surrounded by her beloved husband and four daughters.

Pat was born on January 25, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, to Walter and Fern Henschen. She married the love of her life, Samuel Morris Miller, and together they shared 67 beautiful years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, service, and love.

Pat devoted much of her life to caring for others. As a homemaker, she lovingly cared for her family and made their home a place of warmth and welcome. Later, she worked for Family Private Care for 10 years and continued serving others as a personal care aide until just a few months before her passing. Caring for people was not simply something Pat did. It was part of who she was.

As a pastor’s wife, Pat faithfully served alongside her husband through the years. She played the piano, led Sunday school classes, hosted church events, and opened her heart and home to countless others. She was a treasured friend to many, and her kindness, faith, and generous spirit touched lives wherever she went.

Music was another special part of Pat’s life and faith. She had a deep love for music, especially the old hymns that remained close to her heart throughout her life. A gifted pianist and singer, Pat used her musical talents to bring joy to others and to worship the Lord she loved so dearly. In her younger years, she traveled and sang with a trio of ladies, creating memories and sharing their music with others. Whether at the piano, singing a familiar hymn, or simply listening to the songs she loved, music was woven into the story of Pat’s life and was a beautiful expression of her faith.

Pat also had a wonderful sense of adventure and a passion for travel. She visited all 50 states and traveled abroad to Scotland, Ireland, England, France, Italy and Switzerland. She especially loved trips to Sight & Sound during visits to Branson, Missouri, and Pennsylvania. There was always another adventure on the horizon because Pat was forever planning her next trip.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Samuel M. Miller; her four daughters and their husbands, Brenda Whitaker (Bob), Deborah Irvine (Bryan), Linda Smith (Tim), and Pamela Calhoun (Tim); and a beautiful family spanning generations, including David, Janelle, and Teddy Whitaker; Tricia Whitaker; Dave, Heidi, Phoenix, Zion, Zoey, Asher, and Miles Hopewell; Ashley, Falcon, and River Gutierrez; Emilee Smith; Lizzie, Anthony, and Oakley Hartman; Juan, Laura, Nito, and Baby Calderon; Jacqueline Rose Farley; and brother, Ted Henschen.

Waiting to welcome Pat home in Heaven are her parents, Walter and Fern Henschen; her siblings, Dwight, Fred, Bonnie, and Martha; and her beloved grandson, Blaine Hartman.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, at Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory, 950 SE Monterey Road, Stuart, Florida 34994.

A Celebration of Patricia’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, at Church Street Chapel, 8515 SE Church Street, Hobe Sound, Florida 33455.

Above all else, Patricia treasured three things: her Faith, her Family, and her Friends. She lived her life devoted to all three, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, adventure, and faith that will continue through the many lives she touched.

Her journey on earth may be complete, but the love she gave, the faith she lived, and the memories she created will travel on with all who loved her.
