Obituary

Paul Henry Hasz, 82, of Port St Lucie, FL passed away on February 28, 2021 surrounded by his family at Treasure Coast Hospice after a short bout with cancer.

Paul was born in DesPlains, IL and moved to Mount Prospect, IL with his family during his childhood. He attended the University of Illinois and graduated with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1961. He also received his masters in Business from Central Michigan University in 1976. He joined the Civil Air Patrol while in college and participated in all the cadet programs including march and presentation of colors. Upon
graduation he immediately enlisted in the Air Force and had a career that spanned over 23 years culminating with his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1984.

During his AirForce career he served as a Navigator in KC-135's, a tour during the Vietnam conflict, and various positions as a Project Manager at both the 4950th Test Wing in Dayton OH and Andrews AFB in MD. Following his retirement he worked in private industry as a project manger in Dayton OH and Denver CO before returning to Maryland in 1987. He then joined the FBI in Washington DC from 1991 to 2004. During his years at the FBI he also participated in the American Legion Post that represented FBI members. He held various posts including Post 56 Commander, DC Department Commander, and National Executive Committee member.

After making the move to Port St Lucie in 2014, he again became active in the Civil Air Patrol Stuart Squadron where he was the Vice Commander for Seniors. He participated by flying cadet orientations and mission support for hurricane recovery. Paul dedicated over 22 years of service to the Civil Air Patrol. Flying was his true passion. Paul maintained his pilot's license for over 60 years.

Paul was the beloved husband of his wife of 33 years, Patricia. Paul is also survived by his Brother Karl Hasz (Sue), Sister Corrine Bennett (Bill), Daughter Kathryn Nash(Charles), Grandson Nathaniel Nash, Son Paul Eric (Lisa) Hasz, Grandson Paul Adam (Laura) Hasz, Granddaughter Katelyn Schneider (Ben) and Great Grandson Oberyn Schneider, and Granddaughter Madalyn Hasz, and his first wife of 22 years, Gretchen Hasz. He leaves behind many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.


He is the son of the late Paul August & Cordia (Moeller) Hasz.


A private service and burial for the immediate family will take place at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart FL 34997, www.TreasureHealth.org.
