Obituary of Dr. Paul McGill PhD
Dr. Paul L. McGill, PhD, 85, of Palm City, FL, passed away July 14, 2014 at Martin Medical Center, Stuart. Born in San Antonio, TX, he had been a resident of Palm City for 24 years, coming from West Simsbury, CT.
During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Air Force.
He graduated from MIT where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering and his PhD from Syracuse University.
Prior to retirement he had been a Sr. Vice President with Combustion Engineering in Windsor, CT. He was instrumental in the design of the USS Nautilus, the first nuclear powered submarine and he also designed nuclear power plants including the FPL St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Barbara A. McGill of Palm City; his daughter, Laura McGill Dehner of Mason, OH; his son, Greg McGill and his wife Susan of Williamsville, NY and Mark McGill, and his wife Rosana of Trumbull, CT and four grandchildren, David Paul Dehner, Cassidy Lynn McGill, Connor Paul McGill and Cooper James McGill.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City.
