IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul Alan
Skilowitz
October 14, 1953 – May 21, 2023
Paul Skilowitz, 69, of Palm City, FL, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 21st .
Flying his plane on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, he was doing one of the many hobbies he enjoyed.
Paul will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was born in New York on October 14, 1953. Paul grew up in Scarsdale, NY with his mother Claire, father Jack, and sister Amy.
He married Karen Crosby in 1990 and they celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary in May of this year. Paul and Karen took off shortly after the wedding to sail around the world. Three years later, as winners of the Europa Round the World Race, Karen and Paul settled in Stuart, Florida.
While sailing, Paul designed a pilot house sailing boat. Upon return to Florida, he set off to St. Petersburg to bring that boat to reality. During that time, Paul was working on creating a power boat line. He found himself fascinated with center console power boats and Bluewater Sportfishing Boats came to life. Paul was the owner of Bluewater Sports Fishing Boats in Ft. Pierce, FL for over 20 years. He was very passionate about every boat that left his factory. His attention to customer service, details, and top end center console boats led to a tremendous following in the boating world. Bluewater owners continue to praise Paul's commitment to them and the industry.
Outside of work, Paul enjoyed showing his award-winning exotic cars and driving high-performance Formula cars at the track. In addition to cars, Paul's love of flying took he and Karen back and forth to the Bahamas, family vacations, car events and just out for a flight. Their time in Guana Cay gave Paul and Karen the downtime they deserved from a busy life at Bluewater. His love of life and appreciation for his family and friends was obvious to anyone who knew Paul.
He is survived by his wife Karen, sister Amy and niece Haley. His friends and family will feel the loss of Paul's humor, laughter, and his knowledge for a long time to come. Paul left a legacy in the marine industry as well as with his outlook on life.
A celebration of life will be held on June 24th at 3:00pm at Indian Riverside Park, upstairs in the Francis Langford Room.
