Peter J.
Lolis
Jan 25, 1924 — Sep 11, 2020
Palm City
Peter J. Lolis, was the beloved husband of 70 years to Mary, father to Maryjo & Tom, Anne & Tom, Gail & Maryrose and Joseph, grandfather to Christin, Alissa Keith, Daniel, Nicole and Andrew and great grandfather to Zachary, Mia, Riley, Ashton and Anthony. Whether called Pete, Dad, Poppy Pete, Uncle Petey or Peter McSweeter, he was loved by all who knew him.
Peter served in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard in World War II and survived the perilous duty of guarding merchant ships in the Atlantic. After the war, Peter met Mary in a dress factory. They soon fell in love, got married and started their own dress contracting firm. Together they ran a very successful business until they retired in the mid 1980's. they raised their four children on Long Island in the Manhasset Hills and enjoyed some of their most special memories in the summer home they built with Mary & Peter's families in Rocky Point. Peter loved cooking and entertaining for his family. Whether making homemade pizza or pasta, sausage and peppers, or pancakes and bacon on a Sunday morning, everyone loved the family gatherings. Peter was always the life of the party and made everyone feel so loved. He was extremely caring and generous to all. There was also nothing he could not fix. A machine, and appliance or a personal problem someone was having, Peter always analyzed the problem and came up with a solution and it worked.
Our beloved Peter leaves a long legacy of having a huge heart, broad smile, and the best rendition of "Happy Birthday" that he sang to all of us. We are so grateful he was ours. He lived a wonderful and full 96 years. Although he will be greatly missed, he will be in our hearts forever.
