Phillip M. Maddux, 79, of Palm City, FL, passed away on Sunday, December 19th in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.
Phil was born on March 9th, 1942 to Guy M. Maddux and Ida P. Steger in Hopkinsville, KY. After graduating from high school in Miami, FL, he went on to study Landscape Architecture at Miami-Dade Community College.
After graduation, he went on to enjoy a successful Landscape Architecture career that spanned over 40 years. Some of his notable works are published in the books "Gardens By The Sea" and "The Civilized Jungle".
Phil resided in Palm City, FL since 1979. Throughout his life he was actively involved with his community and the botanical gardens in Ft. Pierce and West Palm Beach. At his home in Palm City, he enjoyed tending to his own botanical "jungle" garden that contains over 3500 specimens of plants. He was an active member and elder of the Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church of Ft. Pierce.
Phil is survived by his wife, Silvia Maddux; his four children, Pamela Brown, Debbie (Jose) Vargas, Phillip II (Masha) Maddux and Marc Kennel; and his seven grandchildren, Calvin, Zachary, Emma, Jacob, Ellie, Phillip III and Chase.
Services will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City, FL on Wednesday, December 29th at 12:00 PM. Visitation will start 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church of Fort Pierce ( crpcfp.com ) would be appreciated.
