Obituary of Phyllis Huntington
Phyllis R. Huntington, 77, died on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at her home in Palm City, Florida following a long illness.
Born in Simpsons, Virginia, she resided in Washington, D.C., Virginia, New York and Connecticut before moving to Palm City in1991. Mrs. Huntington and her husband Earl met and married while working for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.. They celebrated fifty-two years of marriage on August 27, 2012.
Active in many charities throughout her life, Mrs. Huntington worked with a national organization for reading for the blind, Girl Scouts of America, PTA programs, the Women's Auxiliary of the American Institute of Mining Engineers Scholarship Fund and other organizations. She was a member of the Monarch Country Club, Palm City, Darien Country Club and the Newcomers Club in Bronxville, New York.
Survivors include her husband Earl Huntington of Palm City; daughters, Jane Huntington of Brooklyn, New York and Ann Busiek of Camas, Washington; son, Steven Huntington of Portland, Oregon; a brother, Wallace Reed of Vinton, Virginia; a sister, Margaret Adkins of Roanoke, Virginia and four grandchildren. Sisters, Elizabeth Robertson, Maxelle Burke and Gaeldene Meeks preceded her in death.
A celebration of Mrs. Huntington's life will be held at Monarch Country Club at a later date.
