September 5, 2020.  Polly Irene Stanley Miller died quietly in her sleep at Emerald Nursing Home in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

Polly was a coal miner's daughter born on December 13, 1925 in Darwin, Virginia. She was raised by Father Dewey, Mother Pearl, and along with two brothers Dayton and Gerald surrounded by the beautiful Virginia mountains and a large supportive family.

She met a tall, handsome Navy young man, Carl, while studying at the University of Richmond to become a registered nurse. They were married for 70 years and had three children and also helped raise several foster children.

Polly had many creative talents: knitting and crocheting "works of art," canning, pickling, gardening, drawing, cooking.

She loved her Carl, family, working as a nurse, historical novels, soap  operas, Gone With The Wind, children, and animals. Polly always had a menagerie of pets which she loved and cared for.

Polly was the sole caregiver for her disabled mother for three years, babysat her grandchildren and pets when needed.

It was well known that Polly was feisty and had a spunky sense of humor. God kindly gave her a sweet and loving disposition

In her later years, and she kept her quick retorts. She was a pleasure to be around.

Polly will be sorely missed, but now she will be laid to rest with her Carl who preceded her.

She is survived by her Son Ben with wife Roberta; grandchildren Julie, Michelle, and Angela;

Ben's Stepchildren: Greg, Marlene, Nancy, Grant, Danielle, Desiree, Keegan

Step Grandchildren: Tristen, Drew, Eden, Prim, Justice, Bristol, Elizabeth

Great Stepchildren: Davota,Beau

Daughter Judy with husband Larry; granddaughter Laura, grandson-in-law Charles, great grandchildren, Daniel and Michael; also granddaughter Michelle and grandson-in-law Jake;

Daughter Patricia with her husband Rob, grandson Paul.
