Rafael Vazquez-Ruiz, 95, of Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away on August 31, 2018 at the St. Lucie Medical Center, Port St. Lucie.

Born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, he had been a resident of Port St. Lucie for over 30 years coming from Hempstead, MD.

He was a career serviceman in the US Army attaining the rank of Master Sergeant serving during World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors include his children, Jorge E. Vazquez and his wife Pamela of Elkton, MD, Margarita Vazquez and Carlos R. Vazquez and his wife Shirley, all of Port St. Lucie; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 11 siblings.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Bienvenida Vazquez in 2017.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:30 PM on Friday, September 7, 2018, at the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City, FL.  The funeral service will be at 1:30 PM    in the funeral home chapel.  Interment will follow, along side his wife, immediately in the Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City with full military honors provided by the US Army
