Obituary of Raimondo Visciano

Raimondo Visciano, 94, of Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away August 14, 2014 at the St. Lucie Medical Center, Port St. Lucie, FL. Born in Naples, Italy he had been a resident of Port Saint Lucie for 34 years coming from Oceanside, New York.

Before retiring he had been an x-ray technician in the U.S. Army for 20 years and at Mercy Hospital in New York for 10 years. After moving to Florida he continued his career as an x-ray technician at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Fort Pierce and also for the orthopedic group of Drs. Stolzer, Mondo and Lazarus in Port St. Lucie.

Raimondo was a founding member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and helped to organize the parish's Council of the Knights of Columbus and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. He was an usher and a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound. In recent years, he attended services with the Holy Family congregation. Raimondo was also a member of the American Legion.

A loving father, he is survived by his daughter, Dr. Maria Barkmeier and son-in-law, Steven W. Barkmeier of Port St. Lucie. . He was preceded in death by his wife in 2010, Lucy Frances Visciano.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at the Aycock, Byrd, Young and Prill Funeral Home, 1170 SW Bayshore Boulevard, Port St. Lucie with a Vigil Prayer Service at 6:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Interment will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park, Palm City with full military honors provided by the U.S. Army.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City.
