Obituary of Raymond Hedberg

Raymond David Hedberg, 85, died August 31, 2011, in Palm City

Raymond Hedberg was born June 12, 1926, in Taunton, Massachusetts and moved to Palm City in1989 from McLean, VA

He received his BA in Psychology from Duquesne University and his Masters and Ph.D. in Industrial Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. During the early part of his career, he worked as a behavioral scientist at Prudential Insurance and as a psychologist for the American Can Company. He spent the majority of his career at Norfolk Southern Railway as the Assistant Vice President and Director of Personnel.

Raymond's passion was golf. He won many club championships at Washington Golf and Country Club in Virginia and Harbour Ridge in Florida and enjoyed playing on courses around the world, especially Metacomet with his cousins Mildred and Joe Izzi.

During World War II, he served in the Navy Seabees. His duties included driving trucks, drafting, building runways, and conducting atomic bomb experiments in the South Pacific.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years Solange Hedberg of Palm City, FL., sons Mark Hedberg , daughter Kim Hedberg, step children Jennifer Fox, Carla Chapman, Pamela Gazale and Nayla Lowe.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00am at Harbour Ridge Country Club on September 3, 2011
