Polley, Raymond Macpherson

Ray (aka Mac) passed away peacefully at home in Stuart, Florida on December 15, 2023 at the age of 88. Ray was born on 5/18/1935 in Buffalo, New York, but spent much of his early life growing up in northeastern New York and New England. Ray graduated from Darrow High School in Lebanon, New York. After graduation, Ray attended various colleges in the northeast and majored in Material  Science & Mechanical Engineering.

In 1956, Ray joined the Army and served three active years in Germany on the rifle team and servicing large vehicle's (i.e., tanks), and then, served another 3 years with the reserves. In 1959, Ray started working for Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Connecticut. In 1989, Ray relocated to the Pratt & Whitney facility in West Palm Beach, Florida. Ray's position at P&W included traveling around the country overseeing numerous jet engines contractors, as an Aerospace Metallurgical Engineer. During his time away from work, Ray enjoyed boating, fishing, scuba diving, hunting, snowmobiling, golfing, reading, supporting the Buffalo Bills, growing tomatoes, traveling, cruising with friends, and lastly, spending time with his various black Labradors (Lucy, Outlaw Josey wales, and Cleo).

Ray was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Eleanor Anne Dickey; his girlfriend, Joanne Kokoszka, from Port St. Lucie, Florida who passed away on April 26th, 2022; and sister, Thekla Polley Putnam (91 years) from Gainesville, Virginia who passed away on July 16th 2022.

Ray is survived by his two children Heather Polley and Joanne Miller (James) and two grandchildren: Owen Miller and Hannah Miller, all from Lockport, Illinois.

Per Ray's request, there will be no memorial service or celebration of life gathering.
