Obituary

Rhett Keene, loving and devoted husband and father of two boys, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the age of 45.

Rhett was born in Tampa, FL, on June 23, 1973, to Russell & Dian (Overstreet) Keene. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from the University of Florida in 1997. He worked for the Hillsborough County Department of Health until 2001, when he moved to Stuart, FL, to begin a successful career as a civil engineer with CAPTEC Engineering, where he worked for almost seventeen years. On October 19, 2002, he married his college sweetheart, Candi Clower Keene.  They have two sons, Corbin (age 13) and Bryce (age 12).

Rhett was a humble man of few words, who enjoyed his work and spending time with his family. He loved fishing and target shooting and was an avid Gator fan. He was an involved father, at home, and in the boys' activities, having helped coach t-ball and baseball, camping with the Cub Scouts and helping out with the annual Cub Scout Pinewood Derby. It was also his job to help with the boys' science projects. He was the president of his neighborhood HOA board, because no one else wanted the job, and it was just like him to step in wherever he was needed.

Rhett was preceded in death by his father, Ira, and his grandmother Ruth Overstreet. He is survived by his wife, Candi, his sons, Corbin and Bryce, his mother, Diana Keene, his sister, Sienna Agan (Neil Ravenna), several uncles, aunts and cousins, two nephews and a niece.

A celebration of life will be held at 2PM on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at Christ Fellowship, 10205 SW Pratt Whitney Road, Stuart, FL. There will be a reception following the service at 4PM at the clubhouse in the Highlands Reserve Neighborhood, 6313 SW Bald Eagle Drive, Palm City, FL.
