Obituary

Rhoda Silver, formerly of Racine WI, passed away in Stuart, FL on December 13, 2024.

Rhoda was born on March 5, 1928 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While studying art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she quickly fell for the charms of Bob Silver and his promise of steak dinners. They married on April 4, 1948 and had three beautiful children. Rhoda celebrated 72 incredible years with Bob until his passing.

Rhoda was a creative soul who never missed an opportunity to express herself. She produced countless treasured paintings over the years and was a founding member of the Harbour Ridge Artisans club. Over a lifetime of visiting local art fairs and collecting oddities, her home gradually evolved into her own curated gallery exhibit. She even used her wardrobe to make a statement—often in head-to-toe bright colors and never without a hat.

Rhoda was an excellent student and a member of the National Honor Society. She was an avid reader and had a lifelong insatiable curiosity about the world and all the people she met. She managed to thrive in the face of numerous health obstacles, and she was endowed with an infamously wild and unfiltered sense of humor that remained razor-sharp across the entirety of her 96 years—as well as her love of chocolate.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Milton and Gertrude Kerns; husband Robert "Bob" Silver, and son Peter Silver.

She is survived by daughters Mindy, of Stuart, FL, and Margaret "Maggie" Sachs of Palm City, FL; granddaughter Emily Sachs of New York, NY, and brother Henry "Pat" (Joan) Kerns of Milwaukee, WI. She will also be missed by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and the few dear friends who, against all odds, managed to outlast her.

She was interred at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City, FL.

Donations in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society or The JK Pence Cancer Fund, c/o Aurora Health Care Foundation, 2025 Windsor Dr., Oakbrook, IL, 60523.
