Obituary of Richard Daunoras

Richard Anthony Daunoras, 83, passed away on September 2, 2009 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 12, 1926. He resided at Piper's Landing Yacht and Country Club in Palm City, Florida and in Louisville, Kentucky.



Richard was a very proud Veteran of the US Navy serving in World War II and continued a lifetime love of boating. He was a Certified Public Accountant and was employed by North American Philips Corporation for 40 years. At his retirement in 1988, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Richard was a member of Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, New York and was named Headless Horseman in 1986. He was also a lifetime member of the Union League Club in New York City. Richard was on the Board of Directors of Treasure Coast Hospice for 11 years and served as Chairman from 1998-1999. He was instrumental in the construction of the Mayes Center for Hope in Stuart, Florida. He was also commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel in 2007.



Richard's greatest love was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Ruth, his children: Diane Eklund (Allan), Louisville, Kentucky; Anthony Daunoras, New Castle, Delaware; and Janet Miller (Gregory), Louisville, Kentucky. He was predeceased by his son, Richard Edward Daunoras (1991). He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren: Steven Eklund (Lora), Christine Eklund, Jessica Daunoras and Allison Daunoras.

Visitation will be held on September 9, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Forest Hills Funeral Home and the funeral service will be held on September 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, both in Palm City, Florida.

Richard's family requests that memorial donations be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, Florida, 34997.
