Richard V. Lewis, of Palm City, formerly of New York, passed quietly on April 10, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1933. He married his childhood sweetheart, Edna Parry and lived a true love story which lasted 62 years.

He proudly served in the US Army, attained the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged.

As an award winning photo journalist, Dick worked for the Daily News' Sunday magazine for 33 years. He photographed everyone from popes to presidents to politicians, as well as sporting events and celebrities. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, flying and he was a craftsman in carpentry making many projects for family and friends.

He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his wife Edna and their five children: daughter Jeanne Koeper and her children Travis and Gregg; daughter Marianne Dee, her husband Richie, and their sons Rich and Mike; daughter Laurie Addeo, her husband Larry and their children Billy, Kerry, Greg, Raymond and Ross; daughter Suzanne Lewis and her children Jack and Jenna; and son Jimmy Lewis, his wife Laurie and their son Jimmy. Additionally, Dick was blessed with 10 great grandchildren and cherished nieces Linda Romero and Brenda Blumberg.

He was predeceased by his brother James and sister-in-law Irene. Dick was truly a gentle man who was loved and respected by many.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 14 at the Forest Hills Funeral Home at 2001 S.W. Murphy Rd. in Palm City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 15 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, at 1454 S.W. Mapp Rd. in Palm City. Military honors provided by the U.S. Army will follow the service.
