Obituary of Richard Ray

Richard V. Ray, 84, of Stuart, Florida, died October 25, 2010 at the Treasure Coast Hospice - Hay Madeira House, Stuart, Florida.

Born in Clendenin, West Virginia, he had been a resident of Stuart for over 25 years coming from Beckley, West Virginia.

During World War II, he served in the United States Army in the Philippines.

Prior to retirement he was the vice-president of Sewer Construction Company, owner/operator of Ohio Atlas Construction, in Weirton, West Virginia for over 20 years. He had been an officer with the American General Contractors Association and a member of the Directors 100 Club of West Virginia University, the Glade Springs Country Club, Beckley, a member of Mariner Sands Country Club, Stuart, and attended the Mariner Sands Chapel. He enjoyed yachting and golf.

Survivors include his wife of 8 years, Laura Ray of Stuart, FL; his daughter-in-law Terri Ray of Hobe Sound; grandchildren, Michele Ray Harris and Jonathan Ray and great-grandson, Jaxson T. Harris.

He was preceded in death by his son, Philip D. Ray and brothers, G.E. Ray and Robert Ray.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a service at 12:00 PM on October 28, 2010 at Forest Hills Funeral Home - Palm City Chapel with Rev. Bill Weimer of Mariner Sands Chapel officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City with Military Honors.
