George Richard (Dick) Read, 91 of Stuart died March 19, 2021.

Born in New York the son of W. Sherman Read and Bonnette Sudnow Read, came to Florida as a teenager, residing in Miami and Daytona Beach. Survived by wife of 63 years, Marcia Clarke Read, son Kevin S. (Lissette), Daughter Hope Read Del Ponte (Michael), six grandchildren, two great granddaughters; sister Dolores Read Belle Isle; sister-in-law Sharon Clarke-Fodor (Robert), nieces, nephews, cousins and his loving cat Honey.

He was a parishioner of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. During the Korean War Dick served four years in the US Navy in Guam and San Francisco as an aviation storekeeper, Petty Officer Second Class. His early career began at Miami International Airport employed by Tursair Executive Aircraft Services where he earned his private pilot's license.

Changing direction, he retired after a 40 years career as a sales representative with American Standard, Elger and Seabridge. Dick was an avid plastic modeler building over 2,000 military aircraft, a life member of the Pelikan Model Club and IPMS, a devoted NASCAR fan and a cat care volunteer at Treasure Coast Humane Society.

It is the family's wish any memorial tributes be made in the form of a charitable donation to Treasure Coast Humane Society Palm City or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
