Obituary:

Robert Edward Beasley Sr., 81, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025.

Born in Bartow, Florida, Robert graduated from Summerlin Institute with the class of 1961. On October 4, 1960, he enlisted in the United States Army, beginning a distinguished military career with the 101st Airborne Division. He later attended Special Forces school and served in both the 7th and 5th Special Forces Groups.

Robert Edward Beasley served with distinction as an enlisted Army Special Forces Soldier (Green Beret) in Vietnam, attaining the rank of Sergeant (SGT) as one of America's most elite warriors.  He was later commissioned as an officer, retiring in 1981 as a Major. His awards and decorations include:

The Bronze Star Medal with "V" device (for valorous actions in combat), Bronze Star Medal for service (three awards), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Vietnam), Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Republic of Vietnam (RVN) Gallantry Cross (w/Palm), and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.  The RVN Gallantry Cross (w/Palm) was a unit citation awarded by the South Vietnamese government to recognize the valor and gallantry of military units in active combat against enemy forces during the Vietnam War.  This prestigious award further highlights MAJ Beasley's selfless and impactful leadership in service to our Nation and our allies.

MAJ Beasley also earned the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) for direct action against an enemy of the United States in armed combat, the Senior Parachutist Badge, and the SCUBA Diver Badge.

Following his military retirement, Robert continued to serve by becoming a Junior ROTC Instructor in Avery County, North Carolina; the Houston Independent School District in Texas; and at Westwood and Port St. Lucie High Schools in Florida. He was a life member of both the Special Forces Association and Disabled Veterans of America and served as a past commander of the Sons of the American Revolution.

On May 31, 1969, Robert married his beloved wife Betty. Together they raised two children: Robert Jr. (Nicole) and Robin (Gene) Garland. He was a proud grandfather to Jake, Shay, Robert III, Emma, and Noelle, and great-grandfather to Jersey and Sire. He also leaves behind two brothers, Raymond and John, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In his later years, Robert cherished fishing trips with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His unwavering love for family and lifelong dedication to others will be remembered by all who knew him.

Robert, a proud veteran of the United States Army, will be interred with full military honors, including the presentation of the American flag to the family in a private ceremony on April 28, 2025.
