Obituary

Robert "Bob" Fortunato, 80, of 530 Barb Ann Ln, Port St Lucie 34952 was born in Elizabeth, NJ on December 13, 1941 and passed away peacefully on the morning of August 24, 2022 in the care of the angels at Treasure Coast Hospice.

Bob was a Navy Veteran who served in many countries around the world as a Sonar Oceanographer working with classified informatio n and was very proud to serve his country from 1960 – 1964.

He enjoyed his different jobs as long as he was helping people. He became a firefighter in Elizabeth, NJ, then moving to Florida worked in construction as a s upervisor throughout the state. From there he worked in two private golf clubs, was a courtesy driver and customer service rep for 2 local car dealerships but the job he absolutely loved the most was the work he did for the Florida Boxing Commission traveling around the state.

His hobbies were #1 golf addict, photography, tennis, calligraphy, spending quality time with dear friends , loving family and his emotional support dog Spike, his pride and joy .

As many know, Bob was a "chatterbox" , dubbed by his grandmother, and spoke to anyone because his motto was to "always make at least one person smile every day" and he did just that. He paid it forward to strangers with his generosity and compassion for the less fortunate.

He married Ann Marie on May 22, 1999 after being so happy together the previous ten years making a total of 33 wonderful years treasuring the life they had while enjoying 2 awesome trips to their favorite country, Italy.

He is pre-deceased by his father, Robert McNair of Fort Pierce, FL mother , Roseanna Hattrich and sister , Annette Palmer of Port St Lucie, FL.

He is s urvived by his wife Ann , his brother , William McNair & family in Elizabeth, NJ, his aunt , Geri Fortunato of Fort Lauderdale, FL, his father-in-law , Ernest Michaud of Southington, CT and brother-in-law Edward Michaud of Port St Lucie, FL . He has many loving cousins that he adored as well as his other pride and joy, his god-daughter, Nikki Nash-Denmark of Okoee, FL.

There will be a Memorial Service for Bob on Friday, September 9 th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm in the Forest Hills Funeral Home Chapel located at 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, FL 34990.
