Obituary

Roberta Lynne London (90) of Palm City, Florida passed away on February 26, 2026.

Known by many as Bobby, Roberta was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 6, 1936, to Morris and Dora Ratzan. She grew up in Brooklyn and Queens, NY, graduating from Forest Hills High School and Queens College where she majored in Psychology. She married her former husband, the late Laurence London, in 1956 and they raised three children in Westbury and Great Neck, NY before he passed away in 1987.

While in Westbury, Roberta was deeply involved in the community, local education and local politics. She began making films with Westbury teenagers as part of the Narcotics Education Workshop (NEW) in the 70s and later produced several educational films about suburban life, education, and parent-child and husband-wife relationships that would be distributed to colleges and universities. In Great Neck she would go on to develop and produce a 10-part television series called “The Sporting Life” that went behind the scenes in the lives of such athletes as jockey Angel Cordero, tennis star Martina Navratilova, football lineman George Starke, and pitcher Jim (Catfish) Hunter. Narrated by pitcher-turned broadcaster Jim Palmer, the series aired on public television in 1985.

In the years that followed, Roberta ventured into a new life in New York City, then Westchester County, and finally, in Palm City, Florida with her partner, collaborator and husband, DonBlauvelt. During that time, she would cook magnificent meals in several unique and fabulous New York City apartments, ride a Harley-Davidson, learn to fly fish and shoot skeet, and continue to pursue a lifelong passion for film and video. Don introduced her to the Apple Lisa personal computer and she was forever hooked.

In Florida, Roberta spent many years working for the Heart and Family Health Institute of Port Saint Lucie as the Director of Marketing, Director of Medical Imaging and member of the leadership team. She cherished her roles at HFHI and loved being part of the local medical community.

Roberta never strayed far from the camera, though, and in her later years she became an avid and award-winning floral and wildlife photographer. Her work celebrated the beauty, uniqueness, humor, joy, and peace to be found in nature and she thrilled in sharing her art with others.

Roberta is survived by her husband, Donald P. Blauvelt of Palm City, Florida, her children and their spouses, Joshua and Madeline London of Huntington Bay, NY, Jenny and Walter Adamy of Melbourne, FL, and Matthew and Nancy London of Dix Hills, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joey London, Wally Adamy, and Tyler, Alexa, and Lilly London, as well as her sister, Marlene Wertheimer and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering celebrating Roberta’s life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 1:30pm, followed by a service at 2:30pm at the Forest Hills Memorial Park and Palm City Chapel, 2001 Southwest Murphy Road, Palm City, Florida 34990.
